Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effects of dapagliflozin on renal function indicators and serum uric acid concentration in human patients. A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases. Qualified randomized controlled trials (RCTs) related to dapagliflozin treatment were screened, subjected to quality assessment, and data extraction and analysis, using Review Manager 5.3. A total of 19 RCTs were finally included. Regarding serum uric acid levels, dapagliflozin significantly reduced serum uric acid levels [weighted mean difference by –11.4 %, 95 % confidence interval (CI) = –14.5 to –8.4 %, p < 0.0001]. Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed no significant change in serum creatinine levels (Scr) (+0.6 %, 95 % CI = –0.6 to 1.8 %, p = 0.294), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) (0.1 %, 95 % CI = –1.7 to 2.0 %, p = 0.863), or cystatin-C (Cys-C) levels (4.2 %, 95 % CI = –0.4 to 8.8 %, p = 0.061). Regarding renal outcomes, dapagliflozin showed no significant effect in the urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (–33.1 %, 95 % CI = –115.7 to 49.4 %, p = 0.226). Dapagliflozin reduced serum uric acid levels and exhibited good safety with respect to the stability of renal function parameters.
